About Us

I am very proud to welcome you to St Mary’s Roman Catholic First School Hexham, a Partnership School of the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust.

I am very proud to welcome you to St Mary’s Catholic First School.

St Mary’s has been educating children from it’s community since 1832 and is part of the Heavenfield Partnership which is a vibrant evangelising community. In our school we seek to create an inclusive community where everybody is valued and nurtured. People routinely comment on the friendly atmosphere that exists in the school but they also notice that it has a great sense of purpose.

At St Mary’s we are committed to the achievement of every single child regardless of his or her ability. I am proud to say that our children not only develop a growth mindset but make exceptional progress from their starting points and achieve impressive results as children progress through the Federation.

As a school we truly believe in strong relationships between home and school, setting the highest standards of behaviour and work ethic with strong parental support. Because by working together we will ensure the best outcomes for our pupils on their spiritual and academic journey.

We are fortunate that St Mary’s is set in one of the most beautiful parts of the Tyne Valley. It is a wonderful environment with modern facilities. If you are interested in applying for a place at our school, I would be delighted to show you around personally.

Our school occupies a beautiful site in the very heart of the Tyne Valley, dating back to 1832. However, we provide the only Catholic education for children between the ages of four and nine in an extensive area covering the parishes of Minsteracres, Otterburn, Bellingham, Swinburne, Corbridge, Hexham, Haydon Bridge and Haltwhistle. Please enjoy some photographs of our lovely school.
